Quick Start Guide

Getting started is easy

Congratulations on your new Total Spectrum device! You now have the power to leverage clinical-grade red light therapy to achieve your wellness goals.

This guide is your complete resource for getting the most out of every session. We'll cover everything from your very first use to advanced protocols. Let's begin.

  • Step 1: Position Your Device

Set up your panel at the recommended distance. Unlike other brands that require you to be inches away, our powerful lenses are designed for comfort.

  • Step 2: Choose Your Pre-Built Mode

Based on your primary goal, select the corresponding mode on your device. "Pain & Inflammation" is an excellent starting point.

  • Step 3: Start the Session and Relax

Now, all you have to do is relax and let the light do its work. It's that simple!

Your 3 Keys to Optimal Results

Think of these as the core principles for success with red light therapy.

Trust the Science-Backed Modes: Our pre-built modes are not arbitrary. They are programmed based on data from 2,600+ clinical studies to deliver the optimal wavelengths and intensities for specific goals. For most conditions, these modes are more effective than using "full power."

Consistency is Everything: The benefits of red light therapy at home are cumulative. It takes a few weeks of regular use to start seeing substantial results.

Respect the Dose: More is not always better. The high irradiance of our devices means you get a therapeutic dose in a short time. Limit your total daily use to a maximum of 30-40 minutes and take 2 days off per week to allow your body to respond. Always wear your provided protective eyewear.

The RLT Home Protocols Library

Here you'll find the detailed, data-driven protocols for your specific health goals.

Skin & Anti Aging

Best for: Skin rejuvenation, acne, facial filler-related adverse reactions, facial veins, skin non-deep wounds, melasma, psoriasis, rosacea, wrinkles, lines, dermatitis, scars, UV skin damage and erythema, vitiligo and other similar conditions.

Mode Settings: Red (80%), NIR (20%), Deep NIR (0%), Blue (ON for first 4 Mins), Pulse (OFF)

Protocol: Stand 3 feet away for 10 minutes, 5 days a week.

Notes: This mode is specifically calibrated for the delicate facial skin. Using the "Full Power" mode for face can cause redness or dryness. Start at 3 feet and move closer over several weeks if desired. Always wear eyewear with eyelids closed.

Pain & Inflammation

Conditions covered: Pain, inflammation, deeper wounds, ulcers, burns, tendon injuries, arthritis, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, heel pain, neuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, TMD, muscle injuries, joint pain, sprain, strain, fracture, edema, swelling and other similar conditions.

Mode Settings: Red (80%), NIR (100%), Deep NIR (30%), Blue (Cycles On/Off), Pulse (OFF)

Protocol: Position the affected area 1-2 feet away for 15 minutes, 5 days a week.

Notes: Target the light directly on the area of concern. For joints like the knee, treating from the back and sides can often be more effective.

Fat Burn & Weight Loss

Conditions covered: Weight/fat loss, adipose, lipoplasty, body contouring, post-exercise recovery, athletic recovery, sport recovery, muscle recovery, pre- and post-workout, fitness assistance, performance enhancement, endurance, strength building, fatigue, metabolism, mitochondrial betterment, energy, aerobic performance, anaerobic performance, cycling, running, swimming and other physical activities.

Mode Settings: Red (90%), NIR (100%), Deep NIR (20%), Blue (OFF), Pulse (OFF)

Protocol: Stand 2 feet away for 20 minutes, 5 days a week.

Notes: For fat loss, target areas of concern. For performance and recovery, focus on large muscle groups (torso, back, legs).

Mental Health & Brain

Conditions covered: Alzheimer’s, anxiety, autism, bipolar disorder, cerebral conditions, cognitive health, concussion, depression, EEG, fMRI, functional connectivity, mental health, neurology-related conditions, Parkinson’s, psychiatric disorders, psychology, stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), memory function, attention improvement, focus and concentration, mood, dementia, ADHD, schizophrenia, OCD, PTSD, addiction etc.

Mode Settings: Red (15%), NIR (90%), Deep NIR (100%), Blue (OFF), Pulse (OFF)

Protocol: Position your head 1-2 feet away for 15 minutes, 5 days a week.

Notes: Rotate the light to target the temples, forehead, top of the head, and the base of the skull for a few minutes each. Due to the high NIR intensity, blackout goggles are strongly advised.

Sleep

Conditions covered: Sleep, insomnia, circadian rhythm, melatonin related conditions, jet lag, sleep apnea, sleep disorders, sleep quality, sleep latency, REM sleep, deep sleep, slow-wave sleep, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, sleep paralysis, Kleine-Levin syndrome.

Mode Settings: Red (20%), NIR (80%), Deep NIR (20%), Blue (OFF), Pulse (OFF)

Protocol: Stand 3-4 feet away for 20 minutes, 5 days a week.

Notes: Expose your face and torso to the light. Best used twice daily: 10 minutes upon waking (to signal daytime) and 10 minutes 1-2 hours before bed (to promote relaxation).

Full Power

When should I use the "Full Power" mode?

Complex Conditions:
Multifaceted Health Issues: For conditions where inflammation, pain and tissue repair are all concerns (healing large or complex wounds where multiple layers of tissue are involved), full power might be used to address multiple aspects simultaneously.

Mode Settings: Red (100%), NIR (100%), Deep NIR (100%), Blue (OFF), Pulse (OFF)

Protocol: Stand 2-4 feet away for 20 minutes, 5 days a week.

Notes: Shine the light to large body parts like the torso, back, thighs or full body. Use of blackout goggles is advised due to high NIR and Deep NIR.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can You Help Make a Weekly Plan for Me?

Yes! You will receive an email from us after your order asking if you need help with a weekly plan.

Just reply to that email with everything you're looking to target and our experts will design an elaborate weekly plan, complete with modes, distances, durations & usage instructions for you.

Selling the device to you in half the job done, making our Total Spectrum device work for you is the more important half.

  • What Should I Wear?

For the best results, wear minimal clothing or nothing at all to maximize skin exposure and ensure even light distribution and penetration for optimal cellular stimulation.

While wearing clothing may slightly reduce the effectiveness of the therapy, it can still provide benefits if needed.

  • What if I have multiple conditions? How long can I use the device each day?

As a general guideline, it’s best to limit your red light therapy sessions to 30-40 minutes per day, given the high irradiance of the Total Spectrum devices.

If you’re targeting multiple conditions, divide the time between them while staying within this daily limit. Remember, with red light therapy, less is often more – and you’ll start noticing benefits within a few weeks.

  • What if my condition isn’t listed?

If your condition isn’t listed, try selecting a condition that affects the same body part or penetrates to a similar depth, and use the corresponding performance mode.

If you’re still unsure, don’t hesitate to reach out to our experts (live chat) – we’ll be happy to help you create a customized plan.

  • Why Treat Different Body Parts Independently?

Topical red light therapy matters because it ensures the photons reach deep into the specific tissues you’re targeting. Mitochondria - the tiny powerhouses inside each cell, need direct light exposure to boost their energy production where it’s most needed.

While a general mitochondrial lift might offer broad benefits, it often falls short of delivering genuine, localised healing.

  • Why are Specific Modes More Effective than Full Power?

Delivering a narrow, controlled range of wavelengths enhances the body’s ability to take in the light it truly needs, optimising absorption and ensuring the desired therapeutic effects.

That’s why the majority of scientific studies and clinical protocols focus on a limited number of carefully chosen wavelengths rather than relying on a blanket, full-spectrum approach.

For more complex scenarios, however, full power may be better. Ask us what's best for you.

  • Why we Recommend Standing Farther Away Compared to other Brands

30 Degree, tighter (narrow) beam angles = more concentrated power.

Narrow beam angles help the light maintain intensity farther from the device, which supports deeper tissue penetration without sitting directly on the skin.

Other brands with wider beam angles require much closer proximity (sometimes just inches) to reach the same effect.

    Safety, consistency & comfort
Being a few feet away reduces glare, hot spots, and eye/sensitive skin irritation — yet ensures consistent, high therapeutic irradiance.

It also allows the flexibility to stand/sit/lay more comfortably.
